Warm last night, 12 degrees at 5am.

Not many moths but a fantastic haul all the same. For me anyway...The trap looked like a cross between the box of Xmas decorations and a Box of Thorntons Continental!

Thems proper moths them are! Deeply jealous, we caught five moths of four species last nigh.....

You're right though - I never thought it would be, but mothing is fun, I should've had a net out at Druridge tonight.

Well worth hanging on to those Emperor eggs Stewart. The larvae are fantastic and change dramatically through the instars. Should be easy to rear - I've got a load on sallow at the moment. If you are successful you can use a virgin female next spring to attract a superb day-flying male.

Hi there, very envious of your Emperor! well done.
I'd have that down as Oak-tree Pug, the rounded wing-tips and small dash on the wings signifies this species.
