Twitching tales...

I hear that Lee Evans has been up in the grim north this week hoping to add a few to his year list...So, 300 miles up the A1 and...

Ross's Goose at Doddington - Gone.
Desert Wheatear at Seahouses - Gone.
Great White Egret at Alnwick - Gone.
Squacco Heron at Morpeth - Dead. Now in the boot of a car heading towards Bedfordshire.

An unlucky day then...

A BirdForum thread has Mr Evans stating the Ross's cost him 1500 miles.

Makes my 'twitching' look almost like patch work!

Permission to snigger, please.

I think you mean LRGE has been grim in the North .....

Is it just me who noticed the irony on the BF thread that the most expensive item that he will be needing to mount the Squacco is the glass eyes!

he'd only need one...

Now now lads, thats not politically correct is it? Cant see why on earth anyone would drive 1500 miles for a Ross's Goose. It would take a Hawk Owl or Wallcreeper to get me half that distance...

I was very very fortunate, in that I dipped the said Evans at Seahouses on Wednesday; cloud and silver lining, wot!

It's a pity he hasn't donated the Squacco to the Hancock Museum. He has nicked a part of out heratige!

Of course....that should read our heratige!
