Tonight is the first night of the 2010 Garden Moth survey. Temp is about 4 - 5 degrees but th wind is a choppy NW4 too blowing straight into the garden. Still the trap is out and it will be until dawn. Lets hope the forecast rain doesnt come until after 7am. I'm not holding out much hope of catching anything but the season must start somewhere...
The survey is every Friday until Bonfire night. I wonder if we will get a suitable night between now and then, it certainly doesnt feel like it....

Good luck mate - i'll remember not to go outside friday evenings then -bound to be wet and windy :-)
We would do that but friday nights/saturday mornings are the worst possible combination when it comes to beer consumtion and hang-overs!
Yes I did this last year but found Friday's quite uneventful for Moths, I tended to get more at the start of the week!
Also alot of the species I recorded weren't on their database, and it tended to only feature common species?
Is it still like that?
Warren - Yep, it probably will...
Ipin - oh dear...
Ben - Yes it is still like that, but I will be trapping anyway so for one night of the week I dont mind sticking to the rules and recording the common species on the form On other nights I can just free lance it!
I think its good to add to these data bases....
