What a lovely spring day today. It was made even better when I was knocking a batch of skimming plaster up and I heard the Raven call. I looked up and it was soaring low down just behind the house. I ran for the camera but by the time I dropped plaster everwhere the bird was quite distant for a photo but its better than nothing...
It was a good day for soaring birds with 3 Buzzards and 2 Kestrels in view for a good while at lunchtime.
Great spotted Woodpecker and Reed Bunting were seen when I was mixing stuff too...
The warm sunshine brought out a few Bumblebees in the garden along with Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies.

best you hurry up with all that work Stewart. Your missing the spring mate!!
Hi Warren, up here we have a tradition of starting spring about the 18th March with Wheatear, Sand Martin and Chiff. We then have nothing but snow and wind with Iceland and Glaucous Gulls until about 20th April when the Swallows arrive! No good birds until 12th May....so, plenty of time then :)
Watch out for the female in a couple of weeks. I'll start collecting dead rabbits and drop them off on my way to Craster it'll be a creat start to your feeding station!
Ooh Stewart some great birds to spot from your home
*goes of to buy some skimming plaster in the hope of catching some good birds*
Hi Stewart, first Sand Martens in the south on the 27th Feb this year. Good to see your Raven is still entertaining too, we had one over the house yesterday being hassled by Corbies, and three in Bristol last week. They perch on the Cathedral.
