Although we face into the teeth of a north easterly blow, this weekend has been sunny and dry.
Yesterday we caught up with a few newly arrived common migrants along the coast at Low Newton and Beadnell.
2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Arctic Tern, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Common Whitethroat and some
House Martins were all new for the year, while a
Whimbrel flew N over our house this morning was a new addition too. Other newly arrived birds included many
Willow Warblers inc a few pale northern birds 'Acredula',
2 Wheatears, ( 200 were at Bamburgh!), 2 Grasshopper Warblers, 3 Sedge Warblers 9+ Blackcaps and 2 White Wagtails. A lot of auks offshore included
Puffins for the first time this spring.
Today was better weather wise, with bright sun and a lighter easterly wind, but seeing it was a busy Bank Hol we just loitered around the village doing a bit of gardening etc.
