This morning on my way to work, I was driving south, approaching the speed camera at Hadston when I saw a party of 4 birds flying towards me just west of the road. They looked odd. Not young Black Headed Gulls? Nope, a group of
Arctic Skuas flying north over fields and houses. It looked like two pale phase adults and two immatures. Agreed only half a mile from the sea, but for this species, a good way inland...It brightened the journey anyway...

Even odder, Stewart, i`ve got one on my (flyover) garden list. 80 mile inland of the North Sea.
Not a stringy one either. It was also seen passing over the Old Moor prior to that.
Thats a great one Dean. I would like one on my garden list. One day, its just a matter of time...( I've said that before too...)
Fascinating stuff! Just found your blog and have taken great pleasure in reading through it.
Thanks Andrew, you are welcome back any time...
