Tuesday 1st May 2007

Overcast, light NE1, Fair.

This morning walked Bunty from the village along the dunes to Seaton Point and back. A little more bird activity this morning.

A pair of Velvet Scoter flew north along the rock edges, 2 Whimbrel were still on the beach with 6 Turnstone, 3 Sedge Warblers were in song, 1 Lapwing was in the bean field ( no sign of any Dotterel - yet!), 2 Little Terns were fishing just outside the haven, 1 Manx Shearwater N was an early record and the Stonechats are behaving as if the first brood has hatched.

A walk to the north end this tea time had 18 Whimbrel flew W, a site record, 1 Wheatear, 1 Yellow Wagtail flew S, 3 Sandwich Terns and a male Red breasted Merganser were on the sea. A Blackbird incubated its second brood next to the pub car park.

110. Velvet Scoter.
111. Little Tern.
112. Manx Shearwater.

Added to the Boulmer year list...
