Moths Update

The last couple of weeks have been good for the garden moth trapping. Not so much numbers but a few interesting species have turned up...including a full Northumberland first and a VC68 North Northumberland first.

Agriphila latistria was not even on my radar but it stood out from the ubiquitous tristella...

Beautiful China Mark, only my second in the garden after one last August.

Star of the show, Caloptilia honoratella maybe the most northerly UK yet recorded? A first for Northumberland too.

Clay Triple Lines, 3rd garden record after singles in 2020 and 2022.

The Crescent. I caught a few of these between 2010 and 2014, 5 to be precise, then nothing for 11 years until last week...

Chevron. Not annual in my garden so please to get one. The last was 2023.

Like Buses, none for 11 years then 2 in a week...The Crescent.

The Vestal my 4th garden record

Brindled Green, My first in the garden a rare species in the county.

This will have you southerners smirking. Vine's Rustic. Abundant doon sooth, but this spectacular beast is the first for vc68 North Northumberland !
